Bronson Avenue is a major arterial road connecting downtown Ottawa with the airport. The old four-lane steel bridge had to be demolished and replaced with two prestressed concrete bridges carrying three lanes each.

We were retained by the General contractor to provide full construction engineering design for all temporary works: piles, working platforms, scaffolding system and formworks. The project required staged construction: build one bridge next to the existing one; move traffic over to the new bridge; demolish the steel bridge; build the second concrete bridge; divide the traffic to three northbound lanes using one bridge, and three southbound lanes using the other one. We designed steel pipe piles; header beams; working platform; scaffolding frames; shoring; bracing; formwork. We monitored every stage of construction. The working platforms across the Rideau River were built just above the high flood water level and provided a convenient and very safe access.
